The staycation destination loved by the Royal Family

The travel expert team at Iglu Cruise have rated the Royal Family’s favourite holiday destinations over the years.

While the late Queen Elizabeth II was known to have a soft spot for Malta, the pretty island didn’t make the rankings.

Another popular destination to miss out on the rankings was Mustique. The exclusive island was a favourite of Princess Margaret and the Princess of Wales is also thought to love the luxury destination.

Meanwhile, King Charles III has a special place in his heart for Romania, where he has some interesting familial links.

From ski destinations to British getaways, the Royal Family just can’t get enough of a few gorgeous holiday spots.

The Royal Family’s top destinations

  1. Balmoral, Scotland

The Balmoral Estate has been owned by the Royal Family for over 170 years and was originally purchased by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

With 50,000 acres of Scottish countryside, it’s not hard to see why the family love this peaceful spot.

The public can visit the estate between April and August and can even stay at one of the neighbouring cottages or guesthouses.

The gorgeous island of Corfu is a favourite destination of the King and his wife, Queen Camilla.

The pair have been known to stay in Kerasia, a quiet area of the island with spectacular views of the Ionian Sea.

Many members of the Royal Family have been spotted skiing over the years, including Princess Beatrice and King Charles. Courchevel in the French Alps is a favourite spot and Prince William and Kate took their children there in 2016 and 2022.

When it comes to a staycation, the island of Tresco off the coast of Cornwall is one of the family’s favourite spots.

The Prince and Princess of Wales visited in 2020 and returned in 2021. They’ve been spotted chatting with locals and enjoying bike rides there.
