Britons in North Tyneside can visit one of the best seaside resort in the country. Easily accessible and a metro ride away from Newcastle, one town has a lot to offer holidaymakers.
Whitley Bay has been named on the list of the best seaside towns in the UK.
For a day trip or a longer holiday, Whitley Bay is a fantastic option for Britons who want to get some ocean breeze.

He said: “My twin brother Stephen and I were staying in Newcastle Upon Tyne and decided to jump the metro down to Whitley Bay and what a great time we had.

“It’s a nice seaside resort, there’s a quite pretty beach and plenty to keep you occupied, we visited some great pubs and bars in the town which were great places to visit, weather was good, crowds were out and the atmosphere was vibrant.
“Well worth checking out if you’re planning a trip to this beautiful part of England.”
Whitley Bay is a great seaside resort with plenty to do for the entire family.
There are arcades, a skate park, mini golf, and award-winning ice cream and fish and chips to try.
Spanish City, first opened in 1910, is also located in Whitley Bay.
The Best Fish and Chip Restaurant in the UK 2020, Trenchers Restaurant & Takeaway, is located in Spanish City and may be worth a trip in and of itself.
User Takethe5th said: “We used the takeaway fish and chip shop which is situated on the beach-side of the building, close to the ramp down to the beach and we were astounded at the quality.
“Absolutely the most tasty and crunchy fish and chips ever. Shame it’s a five-hour drive for us but will definitely be back next year when we come again.”
Whitley Bay has a popular, clean sandy beach perfect for sandcastles.
With two miles of sand and a promenade, Whitley Bay is a great seaside getaway for many holidaying Britons.

“Views are amazing.
“Seals are a treat if you keep your eyes open and you keep your voice down.
“Friendly people and beautiful open green spaces. What’s not to love?”
St Mary’s Lighthouse was built in 1898 and is one of Whitley Bay’s main attraction.
Visitors can climb up the 137 steps for great views over the coast.
There is a nature reserve and wetland habitat, and seals are often spotted on the rocks.
