easyJet holidays launched the new Protection Promise while also calling for the industry as a whole to react to changing customer demands on the subject of refunds and cancellations. In a report titled “Taking The Temperature”, easyJet stated 33 millions Britons had their 2020 holiday plans disrupted due to Covid-19 restrictions, and 57 percent intend to book fewer holidays over the next year.
What is in the easyJet Protection Promise? easyJet set out the new details below:
Refund Guarantee: If our customers change their mind, we will give them a full refund, including their deposit in credit, up to 28 days before departure and free of fees
Take Your Time: Our customers can pay for their holiday in instalments with no fees and only pay in full 28 days before they travel, giving them flexibility if plans change
Best Price Guarantee: We’re so confident in our great value holidays that if our customers find the same holiday cheaper elsewhere, we’ll beat the price
Freedom to Change: Our customers have the flexibility to change their holiday if things change and there are no fees for changes made online until 28 days before departure
Keep Your Deposit: Our customers can plan ahead with confidence, knowing that if plans change, up to 28 days from departure they won’t lose their deposit
All of these promises are in addition to customer protection offered by the fact easyJet holidays is an ABTA member, and package holidays are ATOL protected.
Writing about the research and resulting new measures, Matt Callaghan, Customer Director at easyJet holidays said: “Consumer confidence in holidays abroad has taken a huge hit due to restrictions imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the way we book holidays will never be the same.
“It has never been more crucial for the travel sector to have a deep understanding of consumer attitudes to holidaymaking and for businesses to adapt to this new reality in order to survive.
“easyJet holidays has commissioned this research to gain a deeper understanding of how consumers’ attitudes have changed, and it reveals increased demand for flexibility and security.

“In recognition of these changing needs, and after listening to the concerns of our customers, we have launched our new easyJet holidays Protection Promise.
“We hope this guarantee of flexibility and protection will act as a new benchmark for the holiday industry and, in addition to our existing COVID-19 commitments, will encourage holidaymakers to book with confidence.”
Indeed, consumer confidence in the travel industry has taken a massive hit this year amid countless stories of delayed refunds and cancelled bookings, and with last-minute changes on quarantine rules by the government seeing thousands of holidaymakers scrabbling to get back to the UK or face two week quarantine restrictions.
Only 38 percent of those surveyed by easyJet are willing to quarantine for two weeks on their return home – it can only be assumed many of the rest would avoid travel outside the UK altogether than risk facing such measures following a holiday abroad.
However the report did have some positive findings, with Britons “hoping to spend longer on holiday than before the pandemic”.
And there is good news for villas, caravan parks and campsites, as 31 percent of respondents now prefer self-catering or self-contained holidays.
Those planning on booking a 2021 holiday with easyJet are currently spoiled for choice.
The company has a huge variety of destinations of choose from for summer 2021 which include city and beach breaks.
Flights and accommodation are included in the price and beach holidays include transfers to and from the airport.
easyJet are also offering a 23kg baggage allowance so holidaymakers can pack big for their summer break.
easyJet is offering up seven nights in Tenerife which from £235 per person and seven nights all-incisive in Majorca from £364 per person.
For just £131 per person, Britons can enjoy seven nights in Dalaman, Turkey from London Gatwick in April 2021.
