A cathartic, full-throated scream – sans mask – aboard a roller coaster seems like a great way to mark the end of the pandemic. We may not know when the all-clear signal is coming, but when the coast is clear, theme park-goers can scream to their hearts’ content on some new roller coasters that are planned for next year.
Some of the rides were set to roll in 2020 but got delayed when theme parks closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Other rides got the green light more recently despite a wobbly economy and restrictions that kept theme parks closed or limited attendance, thereby sending their revenue into a tailspin.
Let’s take a look at some of the most-anticipated roller coasters that are slated to open in the U.S. in 2021. Keep in mind that plans may change depending on the course of the pandemic, COVID-19-related government regulations and other factors.
