ASTA releases video for Heroes campaign

ASTA on Wednesday celebrated National Travel Advisor Day by telling
travel advisor stories and releasing a video for its “Not All Heroes Wear Capes”

The campaign highlights what travel advisors have done to
help clients since the onslaught of the coronavirus pandemic. As the campaign
progresses, more content will be released. The Society is still collecting
advisors’ stories.

National Travel Advisor Day is usually a celebratory day,
ASTA president and CEO Zane Kerby said on a webinar. This year, it’s harder to
celebrate the day, Kerby said. And while the pandemic is something no one would
ever want, it has a silver lining: shining a light on the importance of the
work travel advisors do.

“In the wake of the pandemic, everyone is becoming a
believer,” Kerby said.

As borders closed while the virus spread, flights were
canceled and cruise ships were rerouted. Travel advisors got to work serving
their clients, even some non-clients, and the world noticed, Kerby said. 

“You navigated a fast-changing and often precarious
landscape,” he said.

ASTA senior director of communications Erika Richter said
ASTA has been collecting those stories for some time. Hundreds of submissions
were received.

“They were really, truly, remarkable stories,” she said.

ASTA released a 5-minute video Wednesday. A shorter video is
coming. Richter encouraged advisors to share those assets, and others available
at, with clients. She urged advisors to post their
own stories to social media using the hashtag #TravelHero so ASTA can follow
